Mothers Ruin label artwork - Pale Ale, 4.2%

The Beer

They called gin the ruin of mothers; we have taken the name for a pale ale instead, because ruining reputations is our favourite pastime. This is the lightest and quickest of our trio: pale gold, citrus-bright and dangerously drinkable at 4.2%. Challenger brings the bitterness, Cascade brings the fruit, and the whole thing goes down with such ease that you will order a second before you have finished forming an opinion on the first.

Tasting Notes

Aroma
Bright orange and lemon hit first, sunny and impossible to ignore, then apricot and soft stone fruit slide in behind. One sniff and the glass is already tilted your way.
First taste
A burst of citrus that wakes the whole mouth up. Juicy, lively and instantly likeable, it does not ask permission, it just makes itself at home.
Middle
The stone fruit deepens and a touch of modern British hop character turns up the volume. Bright, bold and effortlessly cool, exactly as intended.
Depth
Under all that sunshine sits a proper backbone: crisp, structured and quietly in charge. Pretty face, firm handshake.
Finish
Crisp, clean and bitter enough to keep things interesting. Dangerously easy to drink, it ends before you are ready, which is precisely why the glass never stays empty for long.
