The Beer

This is the beer that started the argument. A proper amber ale, built on a mountain of crystal malt and brewed for people who think mild-mannered is an insult. It pours a deep burnished amber and delivers toffee, dark fruit and a firm, settling bitterness that never raises its voice because it does not have to. Easy-drinking at 4.5%, but make no mistake: it remembers every slight.

Tasting Notes

Aroma
Warm, inviting and quietly confident. One deep breath and the kitchen goes quiet, because everyone knows what is coming.
First taste
Soft, comforting and instantly familiar, like a welcome you did not have to ask for. This is where the evening starts behaving itself.
Middle
Smooth as a well-rehearsed apology and twice as satisfying. Rich, rounded and generous, it settles in and refuses to rush you.
Depth
A slow build of dark, fruity character with a crafty streak of something wilder underneath. Full of personality, and it knows it.
Finish
Clean, gently bitter and dangerously moreish. It ends the way all good nights should: with you already reaching for another pint.
